TEA TOPICS for 2021 – Regional Research! JANUARY TOPIC: Researching Eastern Kentucky Families – Future dates for 2021 will cover Northern, Western, and Central Kentucky Research.
For the January Tea and Sympathy we welcome special guests:
- Sharyn Mitchell has served as the Research Services Specialist in Hutchins Library Special Collections & Archives at Berea College since 2012 as well as the founder and former President of the African American Genealogy Group of Kentucky. Mitchell has spent decades researching the genealogies and stories of Kentucky families.
- Linda McCauley is a local Kentucky researcher from the Mt. Vernon area who has been documenting her family tree since 2001. As a way to share her progress, she has been blogging about the results since 2009 at Documenting the Details. Linda previously served as the Vice President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society, and on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Genealogical Societies.
- Patty Reeves, local history and genealogy room director at the Johnson County Public Library. Lifelong genealogist and DAR member.
Don’t Forget! Members can access a special issue of the Register on Appalachia post-1970. The issue focuses on eastern Kentucky and includes articles on migration, generational activism, distance learning, religion, and LGBTQ history.
