The Kentucky Genealogical Society joins the Kentucky Historical Society in hosting a series of free genealogy workshops each month at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
In order to find the records and resources you need in a library, you need to be familiar with the catalog navigation. Join KHS staff as they take you on a tour of the various library catalogs you may encounter in your genealogical research!
Session 1: Navigating KHS’ NEW Library Catalog!
That’s right, come July 1st, KHS will have a brand new Library Catalog, and it WILL look very different from the previous version! Several libraries in the state are transitioning to this new platform, so the lessons learned during the first hour will not only help you navigate our collection holdings, but others you encounter statewide.
Session 2: The Wild World of Catalogs
This session will explore the various larger collections already available at your fingertips, such as: Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, Family History Library (FamilySearch), and Worldcat.org. Just because it’s located outside of Kentucky, doesn’t mean you can’t access it! Expand your library horizons by learning about what the world has to offer!
Morning session runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m., followed by a 15 minute break. Second session runs from 11:45-12:45 p.m. Registration for these free workshops is strongly encouraged.
