The Kentucky Genealogical Society joins the Kentucky Historical Society in hosting a series of free family history workshops each month at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.

This December, join us in welcoming guest speaker, Linda McCauley, as she explores multi-faceted topic of Online Publishing!

Topic: Online Publishing: Get Your Genealogy Out There

After lots of research and hard work, you have hundreds (thousands?) of names, dates, places, stories, photos, and more. Why not share the wealth – and maybe connect with some cousins in the process? You can do it through online publishing.
 
Don’t let that phrase “online publishing” scare you. Options run the gamut:
  • a simple message board post
  • uploading files at various online tree websites
  • a blog
  • your own full-blown personal genealogy website
You don’t have to be a tech guru or a professional writer to have an online genealogy presence. Learn how online publishing could lead to knocking out some of those bricks in your walls. (both sessions will cover this broad topic of ‘online publishing’)
About the Speaker: 

Linda McCauley is a local Kentucky researcher from the Mt. Vernon area who has been documenting her family tree since 2001. As a way to share her progress, she has been blogging about the results since 2009 at Documenting the Details. Linda is also the Vice President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society, Technology Committee Chair, Program Committee Chair, and teaches the KGS Tech sessions held right after the Second Saturday workshops. Linda has taken on the role of Marketing Committee Chair for the Federation of Genealogical Societies’ 2015 Conference in Salt Lake City, and was recently appointed to the FGS Board of Directors.

Morning session runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m., followed by an hour break for lunch. Second session runs from 12:30-1:30 p.m. A light box lunch is available at a cost of $7 payable at the door when requested in advance. Registration for these free workshops is strongly encouraged. However, walk-ins are welcome. ***LUNCH RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY NOON OF THE PRECEDING FRIDAY.***
