Collections Corner: New Book Donations from KGS!

The Kentucky Genealogical Society recently gave a donation of $1500 to the KHS Martin F. Schmidt Research Library for the purchase of library books, particularly focusing on county publications.  With budget cuts in recent years, the library’s acquisitions have mainly been donations of books and other materials. Since we have not been able to purchase newer titles relating to Kentucky counties, our overall collection was not as up-to-date as we would have liked. Thanks to KGS, the KHS County collection is catching up quite nicely!

Using this donation, we acquired 51 new titles (at an average cost of about $30/book).  The topics cover history and genealogy of 14 counties as well as general Kentucky, Southern, and American history.  We also got several books relating to genealogy standards and techniques:

If you are a member of a local historical or genealogical organization, please continue sending KHS your publication lists, and we will make purchases as our budget allows.  We also accept donations of publications, genealogy research, and manuscript materials.
